FIRST Learning… never stops building upon itself, starting at age 6 and continuing through middle and high-school levels up to age 18.

LASA Robotics participates in FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology). LASA has been a participating member of the FIRST community since 2000 and now runs 5 teams.

FIRST is a non-profit that was founded in 1989 to inspire young people’s interest and participation in science and technology. It was founded by Dean Kamen a prolific inventor, entrepreneur, and tireless advocate for science and technology.

This FIRSTĀ Season will officially begin with theĀ FTC Kickoff on Sat. Sept 10 at 11:00am and theĀ FRC KickoffĀ on Sat. Jan 7, 2017 at 11:00 am.

FIRSTĀ is More Than Robots

FIRST participation is proven to encourage students to pursue education and careers in STEM-related fields, inspire them to become leaders and innovators, and enhance their 21st century work-life skills.

FIRST Robotics Scholarships

Among many of the benefits of FIRST in 2016 there were over 1,5000 scholarships awarded to active participants that amounted to over $25M.

  • Scholarships range from $500-$160,000
  • Amounts ranging up to full scholarship + stipend
